When Cami was first born I'm pretty sure I shrieked with excitement seeing the blue roan pattern through her soaked hair. Throughout Adrianna's entire pregnancy I was dreaming of a Bay Roan or Blue Roan, and although we didn't get the bay, we got the Blue Roan. She was born knowing she was a princess and would win the way to my heart! She is truly everything I dreamed of and more. I couldn't pick a better horse, and she is everyone's favorite whenever people visit! As sweet as she is beautiful, can't wait to see what she makes of this life!
As a 3 year old, Cami ballooned in weight, she literally looked morbidly obese. Was working with a vet so was well aware of Equine Metabolic Syndrome, but surely the princess couldn't have that at this age, right? Wrong! She was diagnosed with Equine Metabolic Syndrome, which is similar to diabetes in humans. She struggles regulating her insulin absorption in her body, so she needs to be on a strict diet and on supplements to encourage insulin absorption. In summer 2019 she had a brief issue with laminitis due to EMS, which is why it is a constant battle keeping her regulated to keep laminitis at bay.
Hoping at some point Cami can become a mother to a foal. I know she would love to be a mom, just have to be really careful with her EMS condition. Don't want anything to happen to her, so will give it time and see what the future holds. For now, she is just loving life (although she wishes she got more food instead of her perpetual diet) and being the princess she is with regular baths/rebraiding :).
