A fellow Gypsy owner reached out and wondered if I could give Val a safe place to land and live out her days. Of course, we can't turn away a horse that needs a soft landing. Overtime, we are figuring out what exactly her issues are. She has an underbite that is under vet guidance/observation of keeping it as good as possible. Her muscles are underdeveloped which is common in neuro horses without high Vit E supplementation so are working on bringing those back. She does have some neurologic deficits but nowhere near as bad as some of the others here :). She was on the low side of Vitamin E in her blood, so she is being supplemented Vitamin E and Equinety. She tested double negative for EPM. At some point will get some cervical rads and see if she is a Wobbler, or more likely eNAD/EDM. We will keep this page updated as we figure out more about her! Arrived Oct 2023.
Once we are able to try and figure out which probable cause of ataxia she has, we will update this section. In the mean time, please visit the INFO page to find out about the 3 most common causes of ataxia/neurologic deficits. She tested negative for EPM, so is either a Wobbler or eNAD/EDM (we suspect this).
